Explore Pasadena’s South Marengo Historic District, home to a stunning collection of California Craftsman bungalows and transitional English-influenced designs that highlight early 20th-century architectural trends.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, the South Marengo Historic District was protected through preservation efforts that helped found Pasadena Heritage, establishing a legacy of architectural conservation. The neighborhood retains “the ambiance of a pre-World War I-era street.” This tour features exclusive interior access to two restored Craftsman homes, now serving as the administrative offices and learning center of the Institute for Educational Advancement, which supports gifted youth. These adaptive reuse projects demonstrate how historic spaces can be preserved while serving modern purposes.
